The purpose of this course is to give students the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the world of accounting. This course will require at least 48 hours of on-site experience in an accounting firm or related area. In order to help focus attention on the links between the academics of accounting and the practice of accounting, students will be required to participate in a presentation seminar after their internship. Before beginning the internship, students will be asked to consider an important aspect of accounting and be prepared to make a presentation at the end of their internship that uses examples from their internship experience to highlight their selected aspect of accounting. This course is intended for those students who have secured a summer internship and will be at UCSB in the fall quarter to participate in the presentation seminar.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will have gained internship or working experience in an accounting firm or related area. Students will present the assigned topic in a formal presentation giving them valuable experience in their formal presentation skills.

- Enrollment in course and completed entry questionnaire available at the Career Connection Office (North Hall 2119) which must be submitted to the Career Connection office before the internship start date
- Participation in a 1-3 hour seminar after the internship is completed at which time students will give a 15 minute presentation on an Accounting topic related to the internship
